Damn Hayburners

As horse owners we have all heard the comment “You still feeding those damn hayburners”

It really is not a question, as most people that say it think they are making a funny judgement about our choice of lifestyle and how we spend our money. It’s as if to say, we are stupid or we should feel ashamed for owning these creatures. These are the same people that can tell you about how they love to ride on their motorcycles for hours on the weekends or the incredible tranquility of an early morning on the golf course. Somehow those hobbies, choices, and expenditures are more responsible than having horses.

Caring for an animal that can hear your heartbeat from 20 feet away, that can sense your mood before you touch them, and if you allow yourself – they can literally get into your head and connect with you. We have these horses because there is a longing for a connection that is deeper than simply riding. It is a way of life that is right for us.
