Naturally bitter and wholly a hardwood, White Oak is the classic No Chew choice for horse fencing.

We sell the fencing by the linear foot. First, select whether you desire 2 rails, 3 rails, or 4 rails on your fence. Then enter the number of linear feet you need.

Not sure how many linear feet you need? There’s a couple options available to you for evaluating. You can use a measuring wheel and walk the length of the future fence. Google Maps also has an incredibly accurate distance measuring tool.

The White Oak Fencing Material Package includes:

4x4x8’ White Oak Posts

Our fence post are square by design. Square posts offer more surface area for attaching the rails. Additionally, square posts are easier to stack and store. At 60lbs each, handling them safely is important. Oak posts have an average lifespan of 25 years. Each of our posts has a beveled top to assist in shedding rain and snow. If you are concerned about the posts rotting from moisture in the ground consider using a base of, and backfilling with, class 5 gravel. We do not recommend cement in most situations.

1x6x8’ White Oak Rails

One thing that really sets our White Oak Fencing Material Packages apart is that we square and pre-drill each rail for before shipping to you. This cuts the in-field work down by half. Our rails are rough sawn 1x6x8. We prefer to utilize 8’ boards for rails as they are easier to handle, ship, and store. Note that an 8’ board is actually 100” in length and over 20lbs.

White Oak is a hardwood, native to North America. The lumber has been traditionally used in building ships, wagons, whiskey barrels, railroad ties, and the iconic Kentucky board fences. White oak is beloved for its versality, durability, workability, and natural No Chew qualities.

We work with several family owned sawmills sourcing white oak. Once it is in our possession we sort each piece by hand, and sticker into new bundles for dry, straight lumber. Anything that doesn’t pass the quality standard is set aside and not shipped to customers.
